Handling of special format files for Editing

special format files

PowerPoint (.pptx)
Figures in a document

ELSS works in either of the two ways described below.
(1) Delivery in .pptx format
If the text is editable, our editors may directly edit the original .pptx file. The edited text may be shown in different colors. There might be comments in the edited file.
(2) Delivery in .docx format (the edited main text with comments on figures)
Editors add comments on figure legends or relevant parts in the main text file.

Posters, presentation slides

Format of the delivered file depends on the type and contents of your document. After we receive your materials, we will inform you how we will edit and deliver the edited document. Generally, we edit Powerpoint posters and presentation slides in either of the two ways described below.
(1) Delivery in .docx format
ELSS creates a MS-Word file in which all the text is copied. Editors edit the text using the MS-Word track changes function, and then we deliver in .docx format.
(2) Delivery in .pptx format
If the text is editable, our editors may directly edit the original .pptx file. The edited text may be shown in different colors. There might be comments in the edited file. Please note that ELSS is not responsible for preservation of the layout of objects in the original document.

TeX/LaTeX

Please prepare an MS-Word version and upload it together with the native LaTeX file and a LaTeX-generated PDF.
We deliver the edited document in .docx format with tracked changes and comments. If you need your journal submission to be in LaTeX format, then we recommend that you format in LaTeX only after dealing with revisions and feedback from ELSS editors.
